Grafket replaces spiral wound

Grafket set to take over Spiral Wound Gaskets in UK? The British Gaskets Group have been developing this new gasket range over the past three years. Please down load a pdf version of our product catalogue for further information.

The Grafket gasket is one such product which British Gaskets are now marketing in the UK. Designed and patented in the USA, where the product has been in use for several years and received many end–user approvals replacing standard gaskets such as Spiral Wounds, Kamprophiles and Heat Exchanger gaskets. This gasket can help eliminate emission losses in many process applications where more standard gaskets are currently being used, with the added benefit of lower cost.

Graphite High Density Quality

When we initially started sourcing graphite laminates, we took careful consideration of the many quality issues, and relied at that point on an industry leader, Nippon Carbon of Japan, to guide us. Working closely with the Nuclear Industry, Nippon only produce materials that are of a high quality.

This groundwork produced a basic industrial grade material that is superior to all but the nuclear grades as produced by Nippon. Based on test results by SGS Testing & Control Services Singapore Pte Ltd, we can confirm our material meets the following high standard:

New Machinery

With yet another new CNC Travelling Head Press now installed, proposals to install new Multi–Head Laser Jet cutting Presses are now being assessed. These machines will further compliment our existing plant and form part of our policy of ‘Continual Improvement’.

With Laser Jet Cutting aimed at the our metal markets, such as head gaskets, heat–exchanger gaskets and spiral gasket metals.

By adding further Travelling Head capability (bringing our total Travelling head machines to 6 we are also ensuring we keep at the fore–front of technological advancements in all aspects of our industry.

The latest automatic machinery is running at cutting speeds of up to 4000 strokes per hour – this rate multiplied by the number of units in a tool, produces parts way beyond the capabilities of conventional presses in our industry. Tools up to 600mm can be fitted to these presses, which we regularly use to cut solid rubbers up to 12mm thick for instance (thinner materials being cut in multiple thicknesses where possible).

By combining the fastest possible press rates with the most economical cutting patterns (and in some cases gasket designs), we are able to offer prices that are highly competitive for today's industrial requirements.

Extruded & Moulded Seals Production Manufactured at our plant in Sudbury

We are now rapidly adding to our range of special seals with further advances in wind–screen seals for our agricultural and railway markets. This type of seal, although not new to us, is now being manufactured in higher volumes at our Manufacturing plant in Sudbury as we are now attracting more business in this competitive market.

Our systems, which include semi–cured extrusion joined with shot–moulded bends and full cured materials, heat vulcanized to patterns, are now also being used for door, tank and compartment seals. Our ability to produce large seals in one–piece construction by autoclave curing has enabled us to meet some of the more strenuous conditions our customers require.

Free tooling for bulk production

Now allied under British Seals & Rubber Mouldings, the groups supply of these products has risen dramatically over the last few years.

To prove our competitiveness in the market, we are now asking potential customers to send us enquiries for parts you are currently buying, or are about to buy. We´ll quote for the item and quantities involved and in many cases will offer no tooling cost or minimal set—up charges for any new business – while also ensuring our item cost is competitive.
